Training of teachers
Digitiger

DigiTiger is a training project of Tiger Leap Foundation that has grown out from a vast training project called “Computer at school”. More than 10,000 teachers graduated this course during the period of three years. Upon feedback information the teachers are looking forward to advanced level trainings.

40-hrs DigiTiger connects innovative learning methods and educational materials by following themes:
-         e-learning environments
-         e-portfolio
-         mind mapping
-         new media and collaboration projects in curriculum
-         learning software and evaluation of web-pages
-         knowledge control methods and meaningful learning.
During the course each participant compiles an e-portfolio consisting of educational materials created during the training.
Most of the training takes place in the e-learning environment – the project is administrated at the web-based content management system Plone (www.htk.tlu.ee/digitiiger ), the teacher training uses IVA learning environment and for the work with students teachers are trained to use VIKO training environment where every teacher can open a personal e-course.

DigiTiger is targeted to subject teachers who have already mastered basic knowledge of information technology and are willing to utilize this knowledge actively in curriculum. According to the plan 6000 teachers will participate in the new course during the coming four years. Courses are free of charge to all teachers; the project is financed by Tiger Leap Foundation.

The training program was developed by Tartu University, Tallinn University and Tiger Leap Foundation’s long-term trainers and experts.
