Teachers’ in-service training is a priority area of activity to the Tiger Leap Foundation. During the past 10 years the ICT opportunities in the Estonian schools of general education have achieved a very good level – continuously renewed computer system and constantly broadening variety of produced courseware creates a good basis to diversify the learning process. The Learning Tiger - E-learning development plan in general education 2006-2009 – is offering various diversified in-service training for the coming four years in order to utilize available opportunities. Under this new strategy the Tiger Leap Foundation has started four vast teacher focused training projects: o DigiTiger o Project Kit o AnimaTiger o TechnoTiger
The above-mentioned courses distinguish greatly in contents and volume. DigiTiger and Project Kit are targeted to all teachers irrespective of subjects. The courses concentrate on active learning methods integrated with information technology. If the 20 hrs Project Kit concentrates mainly on project-based learning, then 40 hrs of DigiTiger course offers also additional information about e-learning environments, e-portfolio, new media etc. AnimaTiger is targeted to the teachers of art, mother language and information technology mainly – producing a puppet film results from a combination of these subjects. TechnoTiger is targeted to a small part of teachers of information technology, art and occupational guidance. In this project can participate schools that have a milling machine connected to the school computer, acquired with the help of procurements organized by Tiger Leap Foundation. Tiger Leap Foundation trainings are free of charge to all teachers. The teacher who has passed the training has to fill a feedback questionnaire and will receive a Tiger Leap Foundation certificate. The ICT information is also shared with school headmasters under the programme called DigiDirector. This training "ICT management and consistent development at the school" supports unified ICT development in Estonian schools. Tiger Leap Foundation also continues financing smaller application based training projects. This allows the school staffs participate in available trainings in their school or county, according to the need. In order to evaluate training needs the Tiger Leap Foundation has developed Teachers educational technology competency requirements:
